Summer Workshops
We are offering a series of week long workshops starting June 4th, running through August 31st, geared for
the young designer and anyone who wants to make gifts for family and friends, or just learn about making their own clothes.
By creating your own garments you will have a better sense of how clothes should
fit you, and when apparel is well made (saving you much heartache and money
as a shopper).
Workshops will include a
series of structured projects, decided by consensus within the group, such as
making their own Skirts, Shorts, Sun Dresses, PJs, Shoulder Bags, Stuffys, or
T-Shirts. We are all about teaching process, and begin with a sketch of the
envisioned garment. Steps include using a pattern, cutting out your design,
fabricating (sewing) and fitting the garment. By weeks end you will have 3 or
more finished pieces for your wardrobe, and a design book including your sketches,
swatches of the fabrics used, and a photo of you in your finished outfit. Workshops
are Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 1215 or from 1 to 3:45 hours each day. There is a maximum of 6 students
per session, so sign up soon. Cost is $250 per session for the week.
Supplies needed (or you can pay a $50 Supply Fee)
Most of the fabrics should be 100% cotton woven(which means no stretch)
Projects are up for negotiation I want everyone to have a interest in what they are making.
1# 2 yards for P.J. Bottoms and 1 yard of 1 inch elastic
2# 1 yard for skirt Med or short ,1 1/2 for long or full ,7 inch zipper
3# 1 yard for bag
4# 2 yards for summer dress(a line) 2 1/2 for full or long skirt , 18 inch zipper

Year-round Workshops
Can be booked any time.
Grab a friend and book a day or a week or even longer.
Often times people just come in with a sketch and we create a garment just from that.
You can also buy a commercial pattern and learn how to decipher the instructions.

Vintage Renewal Project
(making old things new)
This 3 hour workshop will
take you through all the steps of making a skirt for you to wear out of a button
down shirt. Cost is $75 per , (maximum of 4 people). Shirt is included
